After being a 'girl about town' in Ålesund (see previous post), I am pleased that today's activities of actually chasing fjords and waterfalls does not involve climbing 418 stairs up a mountain and down again. Our english speaking, Norwegian accented taxi driver from the airport tells us Ålesund was more or less destroyed in 1904 after a fire started in the buildings of the Aalesund Preserving Factory.
