Grenada is known as the Spice Isle but Silversands Hotels and Resorts is giving it a whole new flavour of cool. Earning nods from Forbes, Travel + Leisure and jetsetters in the know.

Some hotels stop you in your tracks. Silversands Grenada, with its two distinct boutique properties, is one of them. One sleek and striking, the other intimate and barefoot but both set on two of Grenada's most beautiful beaches. The kind of place that pulls you in, sparks wanderlust and have you checking your holiday balance before you've even finished scrolling.

If you're still weighing up your Caribbean escape, something barefoot and breezy, or that Girls Trip? You'll find inspiration in my

Set across two stunning stretches of coastline, Grand Anse and Portici Beach, this is island living dialled up in all the right ways. Design-led, sun-soaked and served up with a Caribbean charm you'll be thinking about long after the sun streaks have left your hair.

Silversands Grand Anse — Striking Design on Grenada's Most Famous Beach

Over on Grand Anse, you'll find Silversands Grenada, bold, sleek and striking in design. And, too, the kind of views that make you stop and click ever so often. The 100-meter infinity pool, designed to mirror the horizon, isn't just for show; it has a story. One that adds meaning to endlessness once you start swimming in that blue. The longest in the Caribbean, it seems to spill straight into its sea.

Lined with loungers you'll sink into after lazy breakfasts with freshly mixed cocktails of Grenada's own Rivers Royal rum. It's practically begging to be photographed.

For those keen to sip their way across the islands, I've rounded up some of the best Caribbean rum distilleries worth a visit. From Grenada to Jamaica, I have you covered.

The interiors stick to a strict minimalist design. Clean lines, neutral tones, natural finishes and wide-open sea and garden views from just about every angle. Between swims, beach strolls, icy cocktails and seafood feasts served with a Grenadian smile, it is very easy to lose track of time here. That's if you can drag yourself out of your plush king-sized bed or off your room's private patio.

But when you're ready to switch it up? A complimentary shuttle lets you hop between Silversands' two properties, with dining privileges at both. You can have it all.

Silversands Beach House — Barefoot Bliss on Secluded Portici Beach

Unlike bustling Grand Anse, Portici Beach is one of the quieter beaches tourists rarely stumble upon. A favourite for locals on weekends. For guests of Silversands Beach House, this rare gem, fifteen minutes drive from the airport is your doorstep.

Just around the headland, some 28 rooms and suites sprawl along the serene sands and cliffs of Portici. Things are a little more intimate, a little more tucked away here. A little more couples, honeymooners or anyone craving real switch-off time.

Here, guests choose between cliffside or oceanfront suites, designed to bring the outdoors in. Every space opens onto a private canopied terrace; the line between inside and out all but erased. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase lush greenery and endless blue. You'll feel completely at ease and at home. Just with much better views.

In those Cliffside Suites you hear the real ocean, not just faint background noise. Cliffside, you hear the waves splashing below and when the wind shifts, feel the salt spray sometimes. A rare thing in high-end hotels, where glass and walls usually muffle nature.

For couples, the Beach Bungalow Bliss for Two package is just the thing. Book three nights and Silversands will gift you a fourth. More time to sink into the sun lounger, soak up those sun rays and those impossibly pretty sunsets.

The rhythm here is slow, sweet. Mornings start with coffee and a sea breeze. Afternoons can drift by, by the infinity pool with Italian-meets-Caribbean plates at Azzurro Restaurant. Then plays into evenings with the soundtrack of waves in the background.

Spa-to-Serenity Moments

Stepping into the spa smells like the island itself: rich, warm, subtly sweet. It’s not just air conditioning and eucalyptus here. Treatments pay tribute to Grenada’s most treasured produce. The locally grown nutmeg, cocoa and bay leaf are folded into oils that feel both grounding and indulgent.

Among the standout sanctuaries is the Silversands Spa at Silversands Grenada, nominated for Grenada’s Best Resort Spa 2024 by the World Spa Awards. Ask for the nutmeg-infused massage late in the afternoon. Your body will give in and when you step back out into dusk, golden hour will hit differently.

Afterwards, take the long way back. Let your feet find the shoreline. Grand Anse stretches wide and quiet at dusk. Wade in, if you wish. Let the salt do what it always does. You don’t need much else.

Signature Grenada Moments — Beyond the Beach

Of course, there's more to Grenada than sea and sand. Though both are top-notch. Silversands helps guests tap into the island's authentic heart with signature experiences:

  • A visit to the River Antoine Estate to taste (or tour) the making of Rivers Royal Grenadian Rum—the oldest functioning water-powered distillery in the Caribbean.

  • A private spice and chocolate tour, exploring Grenada's rich heritage of nutmeg, cocoa and exotic fruits, followed by tastings that will spoil you for anything store-bought.

  • And for something truly special: a private sunset charter aboard Silversands' own sleek vessel, Blade. Sip champagne as the coastline slips by, the sky turns a pretty pink and the sun sinks behind the sea. The ultimate Caribbean daydream brought to life.

Getting to Grenada

Getting to Grenada from the UK is surprisingly smooth. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly from Gatwick and Heathrow respectively, to Maurice Bishop International Airport in Grenada. Flight times of around 9 hours. On exiting the airport, it's a quick 15-minute drive to both Silversands Grand Anse and Silversands Beach House. Meaning you can go from wheels down to toes-in-the-sand in no time.

So, Grand Anse or Portici Beach?

The beauty of Silversands Grenada is that there is more than one vibe.

  • Grand Anse - sleek, design-driven, a social energy and that iconic pool.

  • Portici Beach's Beach House - a smaller, intimate space to disappear, unwind and move at your own pace.

Both share a common thread: good food, warm hospitality and an atmosphere that gently insists you slow down, breathe deep and just be. And really, isn't that what we're all looking for?

Oh! And one last tip before you go… Ask the bartender for their favourite off-menu rum cocktail. You'll likely end up with something local, strong and unforgettable, just like the island itself. Shhh

And if you do make it here... when you’re sipping something strong, the sea stretched out in front of you, sand between your toes, you’ll understand. Some places stay with you long after the last rum punch. Silversands Grenada is one of them.
